A meeting between three musicians – voice, violin, and electronics – for a musical creation rooted in the study of Pasolini’s musical landscape, in the poet’s connection to the roots of his language and his land, while at the same time embracing a vastness of musical experiences. With the astonishment of those opening a treasure chest, we follow his being a curious, passionate listener, open to sudden insights.
Furthermore, in the result of this research work, there is a more delicate and impromptu aspect, linked to vocality, to the vibration of external and intimate strings, and to the practice of improvisation, which Alice Norma Lombardi, Erica Scherl and Luigi Mastandrea, starting from a selection of Pasolinian musical suggestions, have chosen as a form of dialogue between the roots and the here and now. In this fertile ground, acoustic and electronic sounds blend and alternate, creating ever-changing landscapes and moments of disorientation.
From these elements comes the choice of the title Io sono una viola e un ontano (I am a violet and an alder), the first line of the splendid Friulian poem Danza di Narciso (Narcissus’ Dance), a poetic suggestion that takes us beyond the mirror, towards the depths.
