AL LARGO,IN MEDIO ADRIATICO is a sound installation for four voices composed by Stefano Pilia on a text by Emidio Clementi, commissioned by the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna. The composition is included in the exhibition Il Giardino delle Risonanze, the result of a collaboration between the Pinacoteca and MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art of Bologna, set up in the galleries of the Pinacoteca from June 26 to September 14, 2025.
The exhibition is centered in the Salone degli Incamminati of the Pinacoteca di Bologna and extends through a path involving over thirty works from the museum’s storage and from the Department of Drawings and Prints—along with several loans from the Museo Morandi and the Municipal Library of the Archiginnasio—in dialogue with works by sixteen artists representative of Bologna’s contemporary art scene.
At the same time, MAMbo will host a special focus aimed at highlighting the resonances that arise from the encounter between the two museums’ heterogeneous collections.
The exhibition space of the Pinacoteca evokes an imaginary cultural garden where the balances and contradictions of humanity and nature are symbolically represented: ancient ties that the processes initiated since the Industrial Revolution have obscured, but that still echo in our language—starting with the word culture, from the Latin colere, “to cultivate.”
